Expats Tips on overseas moves?

What 3 things does someone want to bring along when moving to a new country? Like Favorite snacks, and? I realize it does depend somewhat on what country you are moving to, but there must be some general things that help make crossing the cultures easier?

If I were traveling to another country, for example Mexico, and I could bring only 3 things, I would bring:

1:) A Spanish - English Dictionary

2:) Unique gifts from my country to give to natives, things they could not possibly have

3:) Pre-researched maps and notes of the areas I am going to with contact info, transportation info and safety issues. Basically a journal of pre-researched information that I have collected.
